Blade Runner

Blade Runner ★★★★★

Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep serves as the basis of this sci-fi classic where Harrison Ford stars as cop Rick Deckard in a futuristic Los Angeles on the trail of artificial humans. A melding of somewhat high-minded (certainly philosophical) science-fiction and the rain-swept atmosphere of film noir, with Ford very much fitting the Humphrey Bogart role, Blade Runner is an amazingly engrossing film that questions what it means to be human and the importance of life, wrapped in some of the most impressive visuals in all of cinema. Rutger Hauer makes for a captivating antagonist in a cast that also includes Sean Young, Kubrick fave Joseph Turkel, Edward James Olmos, veteran character actors James Hong and M. Emmett Walsh as well as Daryl Hannah in an early role.
