Gonna talk about this with Jason and Toure in a couple days on air so I'll hold off on more substantive thoughts until then and leave this as a "Holy shit what did I just watch?"

    Seoul Station

There was a big dumb plot twist that was unconvincing enough to throw me out of the story about 4/5ths of the way through but up until then I was really into this. It's an animated prequel to Train to Busan and in a lot of ways it's the same kind of movie, but the politics of it feel way way more pointed, complete with train station security guards who can't figure out the difference between homeless people and zombies and riot cops and soldiers who treat the apocalypse pretty much exactly the way the Uvalde Police Department handles a school shooting.

Some of the Goose Jr. stuff was a little much, the totally unspecified enemy with the better-than-American fighter planes was hard to suspend disbelief about, and obviously the whole thing's imperialist propaganda. But honestly the structure of the movie was crazily tight and it did a more or less perfect job of doing what it set out to do so I'm only taking off one star for all that other stuff.

Basically an attempt at redoing Into the Spider-Verse but as just a regular MCU flick, with everything good and bad that implies. All the stuff with the three Spider-Men was fun but honestly there's no reason a superhero movie ever needs to be this long.
