An engaging and thought-provoking reflection on humanity shown through three separate "figures", all of which are accompanied by their own unique broken record. The introduction runs a bit long, but once that's past this becomes a truly haunting spectacle, as each figure portrays what appears to be aspects of the post-rapture human being. "Dervish Machine" is absolutely worth the 9 minutes that it takes to watch.

The Player, directed by Robert Altman, is a claustrophobic thing. I do not feel as if the term β€œfilm” is entirely accurate here, as it exists outside the boundaries of what would qualify it as a standard narrative feature. As a first foray into the "World of Wong Kar Wai", I wasn't sure of what to expect. I've heard talk of Kar-wai's genius and how the products of it are comparable to some of the most well-regarded films yet made, but I was never braced for any specific kind of impact that his films could hit me with. Having just finished his third film, "Chungking Express", I can somewhat understand why…

I don’t even know what to say. This goddamn thing has me at a loss for words.

No synopsis or recommendation that I could even attempt to give would be able to describe the nature of this film. It’s something you have to see to believe, and even then I still can’t believe what I just watched.Β

If you feel as if horror as a genre is stale, this right here is the film for you.
