Beatrice Loayza’s review published on Letterboxd:
Four stars because the songs and dances aren’t as impressive as some of these other, celebrated MGM musicals but this might be my favorite one so far in terms of story and casting! Another story about a man pursuing an unavailable woman, but Garland’s character is tough and her desires are placed front and center as a plot device! And the conclusive number “Be A Clown” has both Glen and Judy perform in androgynous clown garb, an interesting decision not to focus on the consummation of their romantic coupling, but rather a depiction of an equal, creative partnership. Gotta love a progressive musical that never loses sight of its pleasures!
