Two-handers Featuring Actors I Love, Being Enemies is straight up one of my favourite genders.

The big suit is legitimately one of the funniest things I've ever seen

Found the plot of this to be far fetched in a few too many places for me to kind of get attached to anything.
Charles Laughton, as usual, fucking owns.

The two strip Technicolor makes this look spectacular and gives it a Gothic dreamy quality. The murder mystery is fun and Fay Wray is extremely pretty, but the journalist character really sucked the life out of this when he was in it. Found him annoying and not funny.

Surprisingly sleight and generic for Kore-eda but by no means is it bad. Deneuve is by far the standout here and Hawke being a goofy Dad is always fun.
The fake movie within the movie also seemed kinda cool?

Was actually shocked how much I enjoyed this!
Maybe I need to revisit the original films, haven't seen them since they came out.

Not terrible but not very good either, Dennis Hopper is really having the time of his life in this.
Bob Hopkins and John Leguizamo have fun chemistry.

Samantha Mathis tho 🥰

Has one of the worst staples of any documentary....
....It's all just talking heads

But for real this was one of the most incredible theatre experiences to be apart of. Wasn't overly familiar with the music of Talking Heads but this made me a big fan. The Once In A Lifetime scene(?) is genuinely the peak of cinema.

The romance in this is actually decent and outside of that and some brief fun action moments, this is not very good. Very 2000s core cinema.

I'll wait...

LOVED this when it clicked, but it does get a bit too much at times and feels a bit exhausting at nearly 2hrs.
Incredible score, photography and production design.
