Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★

While made as a biopic for an historic event related to the Black Panther party of the late 60’s, Shaka King’s Judas and the Black Messiah is also very much a film made for the moment. Thought provoking and captivating acting across the board in what could have been a typical biopic one that feels gripping in a story of betrayal orchestrated by powerful institutions. Contemporary relevant and politically charged, Judas and the Black Messiah is the first great film from a major studio and the first best film of the year.
