Doesn't try to do anything particularly new or groundbreaking but is so effective in its atmosphere and execution that it holds up despite having seen it probably half a dozen times. A dark corner or a creaky door carries just as much terror as a vicious attack from a satanic witch, and it's all due to James Wan's reverence and deep understanding of what makes these films get under our skin.
