Collateral 2004
one of the tighest, most heart pounding scripts i’ve ever seen put to screen. every single scene inside that cab left me breathless out of pure anxiety and awe.
some absolutely incredible stuff from cruise and foxx on here. cruise NEEDS to do another villain role soon because he is perfect for them.
mann is just on another level, dude. he’s got this shit figured out.

Oppenheimer 2023
“I believe we did.”
Incredibly haunting. An apocalyptic masterclass from Nolan, showcasing one of humanity's most atrocious creations in a way that I believe only he could pull off. Very few movies have made me feel a vortex of anxiety and fear in my stomach like this one did.
“Amateurs chase the sun and get burned.”
Cillian Murphy delivers a once in a lifetime performance, with such a haunting, almost ghoulish look in his eyes that makes your stomach turn.…

Leaving D.C. 2013
loved it!!! i’m such a massive sucker for the found footage + “something in the woods” type horror and i’m pleased to say this delivered! very slow burn but it captures that anxiety of hearing something in the dark perfectly.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout 2018
HOOOOOOOOOOLYYYYYY
just impeccable. some of the craziest action set pieces i’ve ever seen, with beautiful beautiful direction by McQuarry. that skydiving sequence is going to be ingrained in my little brain for a looong while.
the perfect action movie.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2014
coolest shit ever man. reeves is truly a magician.
serkis as caesar is absolutely perfect. the expressions, the strength in his voice and motion capture were all fantastic. koba is an AWESOME villain, like holy shit, i couldn't believe that a silly CGI ape would be one of the deepest antagonists in so long. such a personal, deeply emotional story backed up by the excellent performances.
thankfully, this is a sequel that pits the apes as the main characters, while…

Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2011
pretty good! the human stuff is very weak, james franco is okay, the romance is pretty much nonexistent BUTTTT it’s saved by Caesar and everything surrounding the apes. some crazy good action setpieces, cgi that holds up pretty well, and andy serkis is stellar as always. overall, a pretty dumb and fun time! loved seeing dozens of monkeys storming the golden gate bridge for like five minutes

The Dark Knight 2008
“I’m whatever Gotham needs me to be.”
i can’t believe it took me THIS long to watch this, but i’m glad i got the opportunity to catch it in a theater. holy shit.
you guys were NOT kidding. michael mann’s HEAT with batman in it is an absolutely fantastic mix that nolan managed to pull off perfectly. the action set pieces had me holding my breath, the soundtrack got in my veins, and everything just *clicks* to create one of the…
