Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★★★½

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood luxuriates in its painstaking - and gorgeous - recreation of Hollywood in the late 60s. The film's politics are sometimes queasy and too often left dangling - but the film, a thinly-disguised buddy Western (right down to its two heroes wearing boots and moccasins) is so ridiculously fun and funny and full of such energy that it's impossible not be consumed by it all.

And when its third act roars to life, nobody - and I do mean nobody - can turn the screw like Quentin Tarantino. It's deliriously deranged and grotesque - and I loved every last second of it.
