Bad Times at the El Royale

Bad Times at the El Royale

sometimes just sitting down for two hours and enjoying dark, grizzly characters duke it out feels so nice. a reminiscent soundtrack combined with some sexy lighting makes this such a good watch and although the mystery aspect kind of gets cut short, it’s still a really enjoyable time. we barely know anything about these characters but you can’t but care about everything going on just because each one is painted in an intriguing, eyebrow raising way. sure i think originality is extremely important in film but sometimes imitating another style while paying tribute to it can reape great benefits and this movie is a perfect example of that, paying homage to old noir films while keeping it a little bit fresh.
now sure you could call me biased it’s impossible for me to dislike any movie that has a neon lit chris hemsowrth waltzing menacingly through through the rain but COME ON. that scene might just be one of my favorite character introductions ever. i can see why someone could hate this for being rushed but i think that the brashness shown just adds to the chaotic lives of these people are makes it harder for them to do anything. in the end i think everyone was a little too harsh on this little bubble of amusement and you should all revisit it asap.
