It's a slow burn, but the closer the film careens toward its horrific conclusion, the more uncomfortable and all too real.

I fully expect Lily McIrney to walk away with Best Breakthrough Performance at the Spirit Awards or come close to being the first choice. I also expect Jamie Dack & Audrey Findlay to be in the conversation among voters the closer we get to the Spirit Awards' voting period later this month.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I don't know what's more disturbing to me - the aliens, Brynn living like a new version of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl in the 1950s (despite very much being set in the late 1990s at the earliest), or being basically fine with an alien takeover despite killing multiple aliens.

Take your pick, I guess. Good movie though.

Who knew that I would love watching a biopic about a shoe?

Avatar: The Way of Water boasts some impressive VFX and 3D implementation, but its story of connection and overzealous runtime drags it down from a great movie to a movie I could've gone without.

I took a break from screeners today to watch tick, tick...BOOM!, a musical about the musical of the same name. As a theater fan, I absolutely adored this film. The cast is fantastic (who knew Garfield could actually sing?), the story is compelling (with minimal updates to the musical), and overall avoids all the usual Lin-Manuel Miranda-isms.
