Bohemian Rhapsody

Bohemian Rhapsody ½

This movie never stopped feeling like a movie. Every scene I was hyper aware of the fact that I’m sitting in a theatre watching a movie about queen, because the whole thing was just one giant wink and nod to the audience. Everything happened in sequence and never stopped to actually feel like real life. I’m not saying every movie has to be 100% realistic, but it’s very hard to feel immsersed in a movie when every few minutes a new plot point conveniently pops up and moves the story along to the next big event in Queen’s history, or when the entire premise of the scene revolves around us, the audience, knowing that Queen went on to become a successful band. Rami’s performance was amazing and there’s a handful of scenes that are quite good but almost all of them are ruined by a movie cliche.
