Augie’s review published on Letterboxd:
One of the best films about faith. Faith in your fellow man, faith in the goodness of the universe, in the grace that is all around you. Advice and lectures cannot change a man; give me community and give me gentleness, give me mercy, give me pancakes for breakfast; and maybe I will find my way. There are no coincidences, but there is a flow; I must locate this flow, and trust in it. Law and punishment offer no good to the world; they only increase the violence and suffering and fear. There is something burning in the heart of this film; there is a primal fire; in the quiet shared glances, in the furious kicks of a wild creature, in the struggle of a soul. Before he left us, he saw what he needed to see. He saw the thundering terror in the eyes of a horse; he saw the tenderness in the eyes of a dying child.
