Schuyler’s review published on Letterboxd:
Not as fun as the original, but then what is? All in all it’s a decent jump-scare slasher. But like with most meta-post-modern-ironic things, knowingly and self-referentially doing the things you say are dumb in movies is still doing them. It doesn’t actually make it less dumb. The kills are fine and mostly Stabby. There are a few fun fake outs. Overall I think it’s good enough. B- or 6.1/10.
P.S. I don’t know what to do with the fact that the bad guys are super fans of the “original franchise.” I guess Hollywood really does have a love/hate relationship with the fandoms.
