“And I Killed Sparky, Too!”
I love vampires and I love westerns. So this is a match made in heaven. Or Hell? And with Tangerine Dream on the score, how could you not enjoy this? But it’s such a shame The Lost Boys over shadowed this hidden late-80s gem. Even though I prefer The Lost Boys, Near Dark is still a fun, dark ride as crazy ass Bill Paxton alone, is worth the gritty watch.

I applaud director David Lowery for bringing all the crazy visuals and gorgeous cinematography, but the plot is a little thin. Just like his other film, A Ghost Story. Still though, The Green Knight still gave me my A24 fix and I couldn’t be happier. So it’s really art house as fuck, but also a cool spin on old Arthurian morality tales. Worth a watch.

Is it as good as part 1? No. Are the aliens shown too much? Yes. Do some characters make stupid ass decisions? Sometimes. But all of that doesn’t really matter. A Quiet Place Part II is the best possible sequel we could’ve gotten in this franchise. And John Krasinski knows how to shoot the hell out of tension while his cast brings horrific believability to the film. Noah Jupe is a star on the rise. Just saying. But fuck, it feels great to be back at the movies.
