The Day the Earth Stood Still 1951
I like the part where the electricity goes out on the whole planet and they show a sequence of like 20 different electrical machines not working so that we understand that no electrical machines work despite the fact that a character just explicitly announced that the electricity went out for the whole planet. Cinema.
