Arachnophobia has such a great premise that is well set up, but Frank Marshall does a horrible job with the material. He was absolutely the wrong person for this movie, unable to inject any sense of dread even in situations where it should clearly be present. Despite that this manages to be a fairly entertaining movie because of Jeff Daniels’ amiable nature and John Goodman’s memorable exterminator.
