The Godfather: Part II

The Godfather: Part II ★★★★★

“I saw a strange thing today. Some rebels were being arrested. One of them pulled the pin on a grenade. He took himself and the captain of the command with him. Now, soldiers are paid to fight; the rebels aren't.”

Another masterpiece. I think that’s the legacy Francis Ford Coppola lives up to when we talk about the 70s - you’ve got three masterpieces, all-timers, seriously some of the best ever in the first two Godfathers and Apocalypse now, then you’ve got another great, magisterial piece of filmmaking in The Conversation, and I think just those four make up the best run in film history.

I’m not quite sure when I’ll see The Godfather 3, the only one of the Godfather films that I have yet to see, and though words of disagreement tend to surface in conversation of the trilogy’s final piece, I’m still quite excited to see how Coppola concludes this so-far perfect trilogy.
