An introduction to Mexican cinema (5 films per decade)

Think of this list as a "beginners checklist", intended for anyone who wants to delve a little more into the marvelous world of Mexican movies. It is neither a ranking nor a representative sample of the kind of movies that have been produced in the country.

Instead, I've selected five films per decade (1930s-2010s) that may be of interest for people attracted to world cinema. The selection ranges from cult horror flicks (Alucarda) and comedy classics (El Rey del Barrio) to lesser known masterpieces (La Fórmula Secreta) and modern achievements (Roma).

Even though it is a rather small selection, I find it very comprehensive. Hope you enjoy the journey. :)
