Don't have too much to report on this one.
Ocean's Eight is a passable film. It looks nice and it has a great cast who all pull off some really fun and quirky characters in this entertaining and light heist caper.
Ultimately, there's just not that much in this film to uncover. While this is supposed to be a sequel to the previous Oceans films, this one is just a carbon copy of the original but now its Danny Ocean's sister that's involved.
This is a talented group of women who kick so much butt and that's fun to see but the film lacks any weight or staying power, it's a movie I'll virtually forget about in a few days.
It's clever enough, it's well written enough, it's entertaining enough but it's one of the safest movies I've seen in a while.
That being said, if you wanna watch a fun movie with awesome female leads that's breezy and fun you don't have to think much about, this is an entertaining time in the theatre. I had a good time but ultimately how incredibly unambitious the film is at doing anything remotely creative or new is kinda troubling for me personally.
