Had my first watch of BASIC INSTINCT in decades tonight and still really enjoyed it. Stone is just deliciously manipulative and just a joy to watch. Those evil eyes, man. Dragging folks to their doom.

And I was surprised just how amazing the score was too. Jerry Goldsmith gets mentioned so rarely but I'm pretty sure he scored about 90% of my favourite movies. And he's on absolute top form here. Icy, sharp and full of danger. It just sounds…

    Minions: The Rise of Gru

It's... A minions movie. It's fine but I'm not going to pick this over the first few Despicable Me films.

A great bunch of side characters that were woefully underutilized, and a Michelle Yeoh character that felt totally out of place with a scene just chucked in out of the blue.

And I didn't think the actual minions were really that funny this time around. Not enough slapstick and catastrophe. They were just there, babbling away & getting their arses out for comic effect.
But sure, there's enough laughs to make it not a wasted trip. And my 7yo loved it.

Rather enjoyed this one. The characters were all great fun (if clichéd) and although the story of 'friends go off to an abandoned building for a party and slowly get killed by mysterious being' isn't the most original, it was really well done.

It was pretty funny in places too, although some of the jokes were obvious and dated.

But really, it looked great - some fantastic lighting and sets here, it was good fun, and didn't go in an expected direction. A nice little light-comedy horror worth checking out.

Just watched PREY tonight like, well, half of Twitter I imagine. Yeah, really enjoyed it. While the other Predator sequels tried to reinvent things each time, this one goes back to basics, which worked really well but did tread close to remake territory at times.

The setting was wonderful and looked amazing. I loved the cast and Amber especially. Not forgetting the dog.

And there was some good kills and plenty of blood too. Although it does lose points for…
