The fun thing about having seen most of Kelly's films is being able to see this and make connections with all her other films:

A dog with their solitary owner (Wendy & Lucy)
The bromance (Old Joy)
Period settings: costumes & activities (Meek's Cutoff)
Night/thriller elements (Night Moves)
Rituals/Tending to animals (Certain Women)

But First Cow brings together the above and much more, rewriting history with the subtle critic on classcism, racism and endeavouring to make capital gains by cooking with basic ingredients and stolen milk. The film is like finding a biscuit on your window sill; a humble gift made by hand from a friend.
