    State of Play

    ★★★½

Two journalists trying to make sense about a conspiracy involving an affair of a politian, a private army contractor and two murders.
Great acting of the two leads and a thrilling story (if you watch the movie the first time) will be sure to catch your attention.
Sadly, alot turns out as expected and some relationsships could have used more attention.

  • Rounders

    Rounders

    ★★★

Pretty straightforward story about a poker player who loses everything, but is destined to win it all back. You can't criticize the movie for what it is, but for what it is not, or what could've been.

  • Blade Runner 2049

    Blade Runner 2049

    ★★½

The late sequel to the 1982 classic "Blade Runner" focuses on story 30 years later. They tried to give the film an artistic-futuristic atmosphere through the style of filming. Often long shots from different perspectives, sometimes (to) close sometimes (to) far away. The music is also characterized by long, stretched tone sequences.
I think they did their best to bring back the feeling of the first movie where they were successful, at least in my case, because I was bored…

  • Three Wishes for Cinderella

    Three Wishes for Cinderella

    ★★★★

In my country watching this movie qualifies as a christmas tradition. It's like an old companion you always see at the x-mas holidays. Therefore you will forgive him his increasing age and simple presentation and focus on the sweet little story and the feeling of familiarity.
    Merry Christmas, everybody.

  • AVP: Alien vs. Predator

    AVP: Alien vs. Predator

    ★★★

This film is very difficult for me to rate because objectively I know that this film is pretty bad. Poor acting, a thin plot and the effects haven't aged well either. Personally, though, I had fun. Why? I would like to know that myself. Maybe it's the nostalgia. Maybe it's the pairing of alien and predator. Or maybe I'm just wired wrong.

  • Transformers

    Transformers

    ★★½

Transformers embodies everything what "Michael Bay" stands for as a movie maker.
Cringy bad story, great explosions, alot of slow motion and overly patriotic portrayal of the american army paired with juvenile humour and an epic soundtrack.
I think you have to be an inner child like "Michael Bay" to really appreciate his films. So it was surprisingly good entertainment for me at the beginning, which over time became exhausting.

Btw. there are alot of good actors in the movie, but they can't shine because there two dimensional characters don't allow them to.

  • The Men Who Stare at Goats

The Men Who Stare at Goats

    ★★

This movie claims to be a war themed comedy. But the only joke I found was the movie on itself. It's odd, it's dull and it wasn't my humor at all. Therefore the film was wasted on me, as was the strong cast on this film.

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

    ★★★

"Entertaining" is the highest praise you can give this movie without making a stretch. I had a good time while watching it and you will have too, if you don't think about it to much. The plot is not worth talking about, every character but Jack Sparrow aswell. But seeing Johnny Depp as Cpt. Jack Sparrow will compensate for most of it.

  • Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

    ★★★★½

The viewer follows the crew, mainly the captain, of a british sailing ship around 1805. The orders: intercept and neutralize an superior french warship.
I don't think there is a film that better describes the conditions on a warship (at the time of the napoleonic wars), atleast it feels real.
You are in the midst of this claustrophobic interior, among the filthy sailors you will feel the tension and fear a little like them.
Both captains are likewise smart and…

  • Uncharted

    Uncharted

    ★★

That's not how physics works, this isn't how any of this works.

Edit: And btw. these so called "plot twists" are only going to surprise you if your IQ is below room temperature.

  • Thor: Love and Thunder

    Thor: Love and Thunder

    ★★

I don't know why im still giving myself the "Thor" movies. I didn't really enjoyed the first one and not a single one after that either. But I still watched them, judged them.
Slapstick humor, colourfull costume and set design instead of a captivating story.
There are alot of well-known faces in this movie, most of them totally wasted on their role but I need to admit that on the other hand it was kind of funny how these known actors were "wasted".

  • Day Shift

    Day Shift

    ★½

Promising start with a universe where vampires and vampirehunters exist. But tragically this and that there are alot of known faces in the cast, are the only good things to say about this movie. It becomes a sensless, all-self-writen-logical-rules defying action/-trashmovie.
What can you expect from a movie who uses the gag, of a guy peeing his pants, multiple times?
