it's...fine? honestly one of those movies where i don't even remotely understand what the fuss is about. yes, it's dark, yes, there are some very uncomfortable scenes, yes, there's one "hands hovering near your eyes" moment.

but the thing is, you KNOW you're watching a horror movie from the beginning. even if you haven't heard of it, or read anything about it, the minute the score starts playing it's telegraphed for you. which, fine, obviously (i have no issue with that creative choice!), but i don't see how that squares with people saying they were shocked by anything that ensued, or by the "turn" the movie takes. THERE'S NO TURN!!!! in fact, i would go as far as to say it all seemed utterly predictable - and i guessed the exact ending a fairly short time into the movie. again, i don't even have a problem with that creatively; there's nothing wrong with inexorability as a theme....i guess what i'm realizing is my gripe is more with YOU PEOPLE than with the filmmakers lol

anyway, it's fine! it's well done technically, well acted, and it held my interest throughout. i just don't get the "you'll be thinking about this long after you finished" chatter that's going around, because i won't. i guess i'm just built different 🤷‍♂️
