gotta respect this being a big 2 hour theatrical release and not an 8 episode limited series
daisy edgar jones is such a naturally empathetic performer; so easy to root for, always successfully toeing the line of innocence and sensuality, shyness and strength. she is well suited for melodrama, and the movie is at its best when it leans into that pulpy, soapy flair. I won't lie: I was swept up in the romance, the drama, the mystery
unfortunately, the final 15 minutes of this takes the reigns of out daisy's hands, delivering a rushed, unsatisfying conclusion that jumps from plot point to plot point so quickly that nothing lands on any emotional level. what once was so juicy, dries up so fast. oh well
