Makes its unlikable asshole protagonists sympathetic without pandering- impressive. Everyone looks like authentic 70s weirdos, not actors playing the part, particular shout out to all the kids hairdos. Observant critique of the intersection of capitalism, class and race without getting preachy.

Quality film, just pray they don't force you to watch the 'Wonka' trailer beforehand.

me watching this back in the day: damn what a great, fucked up exploitation flick

me watching it just now: this is the greatest takedown of our psychopathic, murderous social order in all of popular media

what a lifetime of surviving under capitalism will do to a mf'er.

(also for some reason everyone has the abominably terrible dub, the only place wity the subbed version was the Roku Channel, little head's up)

if you find the first scene, of a group of friends just hanging out having dinner, as mesmerizing as I did then this is the film for you. There's a crime, but it's off camera and the focus remains on the father of the suspect throughout. People go about their disrupted lives in an ancient, decaying city pondering their alienation and searching for ways around it. Visually a gritty crime drama, but spiritually a penetrating character study.

    Loved it.
