I knew nothing about this movie. I like doing this, going in blind when I have the opportunity. So I'm watching and I'm thinking that it doesn't quite work but there's something in Alison Brie's delivery that keeps me engaged and I feel for her character. That's great, but the movie overall was not working for me. And watching the final scene I had this strange thought: "This is so weird. Aubrey Plaza would be great for this".
So the movie ends and I find out Jeff Baena wrote and directed this. I freaked out! What are the odds? Is this a coincidence or did I subconsciously recognized something amidst this weirdness that felt familiar to me? I've no idea. I just find this whole experience weirdly interesting.
