Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★

Director Shaka King has described the initial idea for the film as "The Departed (2006) inside the world of COINTELPRO (Counter Intelligence Program)." He thought it was a clever way to "sort of Trojan-horse a Fred Hampton biopic and introduce him to a great segment of the world who is unaware of who he was, and is highly unaware of the Panthers' politics and ideology."

Give Daniel Kaluuya his nomination! Seriously, the man embodies what I can only assume was the passion in Fred Hampton's voice and behaviour, he was a man who lived and loved the people. ❤️❤️

Lakeith Stanfield does an amazing job, playing the complex role of Black Panther party member/FBI informant William O' Neal. I think he deserves a nomination as well. ❤️❤️

Dominique Fishback also gives a good supporting performance as Deborah Johnson. 👍🏼

The cinematography by Sean Bobbitt (Shame, The Place Beyond the Pines) was just beautiful. ☺️

Shaka King did a really good job as director and I look forward to seeing more from him. 👏🏼
