Leighton Trent’s review published on Letterboxd:
Not as good as his previous The Squid and the Whale, but Baumbach gets great performances from Nicole Kidman, Jack Black (a great departure), and especially Jennifer Jason Leigh. His writing borders on the darkest of humor with shades of basic (Black), as well, and his character studies are so astute. I enjoyed watching the [bitingly] humorous and the overemotional come together in a potent blend. This family is a train wreck, but it's comforting at the same time to feel that somehow your own family's not too far off from their's and it's fascinating to watch them rail against each other.
