The movie started out as a downer, but got better as it progressed. In the credits, we see footage of the real Ivan, the gorilla that inspired the story. I would have loved to see a documentary on the real Ivan, really. The Disney+ film is okay and features a lot of voice talent from actors such as: Sam Rockwell, Helen Mirren, Danny DeVito, the up-and-coming Brooklynn Prince, and co-producer Angelina Jolie.
Ivan's character reminded me of two animals: Koko the talking gorilla and when he started painting, Bini the Bunny. I looked up Bini's Insta and it turns out that they also play the guitar. I highly recommend checking Bini out, even though it has little to do with this movie.
