it’s nice that you can occasionally tell matrix dp bill pope shot this—by sheer dint of there being actual camera movement and relatively minimal cutting so the choreography is properly emphasized—but god is this one miserable slog. every non-action scene is basically torture, due either to marvel brand comedy or laughably wooden drama. even tony leung kinda sucks here (mostly his vocal performance when he speaks english, he’s great when he just has to use his face in a couple key moments but he clearly isn’t trying very hard, i’m just glad he got paid). one guy in the row ahead of me started snoring loudly and then i started laughing and then some people got annoyed and woke him up. fifteen minutes later he started again lol.
