First time I've rewatched this since before I thought films mattered (a very long time) and watching this is honestly what I would imagine witnessing a miracle is like.
It's a stunning and humbling watch. One that takes room (so many minutes) and defies runtime by way of sublime pacing and rhythm. I'm sitting here after years of jaded filmgoing and was just shown something magical.
Just, such a fun time, immensely likable and awe-inspiring, and I'll enjoy rewatching it…
This movie's all over the fucking place but then so isn't John's entire life? Life's a mishmash of all of these different things, throw in alcoholism and a werewolf and that's a hell of a bender.
Creative. Entertaining for sure. I've never seen anything by Jim Cummings before, so this was an intriguing intro to his work for me, I look forward to watching more.
