Fair Game

Fair Game

Awful movie. A bunch of outback hunters basically stalk a woman on a nature reserve. The film has to bend over backwards to stretch to a reasonable running time, so rather than do anything remotely believable the hunters do weird things like sticking photographs they've taken of her inside her fridge, or buy one of her artworks and then use it for shooting practice. The decisions every character takes at any point seem inexplicable and unnatural - the basic building blocks of a narrative don't work. It doesn't even face the implications of its premise - the threat of sexual violence is never ever really broached at all, the hunters seem like naughty schoolboys teasing a girl in class, even when stripping her half-naked and tying her to the front of the 4x4.
