                                   #467TH Film Of 2020

My first experience with an Edward Yang work was Yi Yi, which was a film entirely different to anything I’d seen prior and one that moved me a great deal and remains one of my all time favorites. Yang’s most acclaimed film A Brighter Summer Day has long been my most anticipated viewing. Sometime ago I purchased…

                                   #75th Film of 2022

Youssef Chahine is a man who understands the human condition like no other except of course Masaki Kobayashi… Additionally, he’s an artist who knows how to shock so masterfully.

The film’s main theme was a beautifully haunting one, centred around the connection between the people and their land which provides for them and sustains their life force.…

I’d love to give this film a proper review but I don’t have the time right now.

This was the best 2022 film I watched and sadly it didn’t even get an Oscar nomination.

Incredible masterpiece in every way, and an incredibly enjoyable viewing experience. Would recommend for everyone as it’s such an accessible Park Chan-Wook film…Certainly much more than the Vengeance trilogy or The Handmaiden.

‘The closer you look, the harder you fall’ is an ICE COLD line!

                                    #368TH Film Of 2020

La Haine is a fiery, passionate, powerful and important modern masterpiece. It appears like a film in which everyone working on it truly felt the ideas that the filmmaker was trying to explore and they all went there together. It opens magnificently, and centers around three stellar and very real performances from Vincent Cassel, Hubert Koundé…

                                   #363RD Film Of 2020

Finally I’ve seen a Kurosawa color film! After 12 black and white features I got to experience Kurosawa in color... not that one is better than other, there are 6 films I have ranked above this and they’re all black and white, but it’s still a rather momentum occasion for myself to be able to experience Kurosawa in…
