Not perfect, and there are a lot of sections that aren't as well written as others, but by the end, this really touched something in me. Made me cry more than once and that last monologue was very deep. A beautiful ode to the City of Angels that does an interesting, spoken word spin on Linklater's walking/talking genre (Slacker, Waking Life). Sort of like a musical as well, and the music that is in this is a lot of fun to listen to. A guaranteed mood booster. Carlos López Estrada is 3 for 3, though Raya was more on the iffy side

Conceptually very interesting, and St. Vincent's music is great, but I don't think I was drawn into this in the way the film wanted me to be. Sort of obvious in where it's going, and there's a certain revelation at the very end that I think is supposed to be much more shocking than eliciting a simple shrug from me. Enjoyable though and not too long

task 15: a film you think would be PERFECT to see at a drive-in theater.

"Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" is definitely a Quentin Tarantino picture, and it doesn't let you forget it by the end. Be that as it may, it's safe to call it the most un-Tarantino-esque work in his eclectic filmography. It's stylized, but there aren't whip zooms. It's violent, but easily his least violent film. The film is not driven by character…

    On second thought...

First two thirds: almost a slog, derivative, predictable, by the numbers, gorgeous score, nice cinematography, great Joaquin Phoenix

Last act: pretty gripping, great musical choices, operatic, grandiose, extravagant, ballsy, great Joaquin Phoenix

    "Joker" is good, not great
