The Ring 2002
Do you remember a time where the idea of watching a horror movie was actually scarier than the act itself? I feel like this movie had a hold over kids of a certain age bracket as “the movie where the girl crawls out of the TV”, and that image alone was enough to ward us off from watching it. A sort of self actualized urban legend. It wigged me out then, and still does now.
Can see why this paved the way for so many other remakes, but I’m hard pressed to think of a better one than this.
