20. sweden. cinephile in training‼️
let’s just get this out of the way. my experience of this movie was totally ruined by the internet. As a letterboxd nerd there is no way i couldn’t have heard of THE box scene, but i hadn’t actually seen it. It somehow manages to create more tension than most of the horror movies of later times? Absolutely terrifying. Also Kevin Spacey is a bit too good at playing a absolute freak. Fuck him! and while we’re at it: fuck brad pitt too!
DESPITE this i had a good time, i suppose long movies are Fincher’s go to but it get’s boring!!
”Snow lands on top”
As someone who considers THG a staple in my teen years (like most of my generation) i have been waiting long and hard for this. I remember thinking the usual: prequels / a continuation of a movie long gone always suck. But when good reviews started pouring in… i was so so excited. Ive read 1/5th of the book (i promise ill get to that) and there were definetly some parts missing, (Tigris’ screentime? Beloved?) but…
i had SO much fun??? This was so gory, we’re SO back baby!!!! I think this’ll be a classic for sure. It has elements of scream and Friday the 13th but still manages to be a breath of fresh air in the slasher genre that i haven’t seen for a long long time. Also, potencial sequel coming?
