    Ostensibly this film is about the meeting between Melvin, a working class eccentric with big dreams, and Howard Hughes the even bigger eccentric millionaire, and how said meeting led Hughes to leave part of his vast fortune to Melvin.     I don't know if we are there yet, but this film deserves a cult following. It is an extraordinary detailed pastiche of a particular battle of the sexes comedy in the early years of the 60s, with particular emphasis on the films Rock Hudson and Doris Day made together.
