ASA NISI MASA
A new favorite of mine! While from the first frame I knew I'd love it, it took a second watch on the same day for it to truly cement how much I loved it. I adore how Guido starts off as a relatable figure, one to see ourselves in, only for the film to rip that away and show us that, no, we can't ignore his serial dating and how he puts the entire film crew at risk; he is a selfish, misogynist, egotistical little prick. And the film is about not only discovering that but his own dealing with that, and how it destroys his creativity. As much about ego as it is about filmmaking, and its just delight all around.
