Heroic Purgatory 1970
This is a film I would never recommend to anybody, not even to myself.
So you should run away... and fast.

-You stayed? Why? Curiosity? Because of my amateur skills to construct a review out of something virtually plotless and abstract? Because of my barely interesting style of opening any review? And you're still reading me.
Maybe you still have some trust that I will not spoil anything to you.…

The Parallax View 1974

Perplexing Technicolor neo-noir filmed in stunning Panavision, stunningly shot by the famous Gordon Willis with a mastery of light and shadow that he developed during The Godfather (1972), framing like a Japanese master. The pulse-pounding paranoia aroma and the conspiracy signature is present here, in one of Pakula's finest and hands down his most audiovisually experimental, adapting Loren Singer's novel to great "American" effect, like a worthy successor…

Good Luck Chuck 2007
Kind of charming for the first hour, but then the second act crisis point hits like a motherfucker and it takes a sharp left turn into intolerable garbage.
So let's average that out to 2.5 stars, shall we?
EDIT: Slept on it and 2.5 is far too generous.

Goodbye to Language 2014
Well hello there, Mr. Jean-Luc Godard. Where've you been the past few decades? I've missed you and your style, old friend. I'm glad you decided to embrace some of modern technology for your latest artistic endeavor. It was quite a ride, short but sweet, as they say.
Indeed, Godard's "Goodbye to Language 3D" is a visual and aural masterpiece that brings him back to his roots. The King of Avant Garde has returned, and…

Film #16 of the "Scavenger Hunt" Challenge!
Task #17 : A film that takes you out of your comfort zone!

It is truly horrific and too extreme for mainstream audiences! For hardcore horror connoisseurs it provides enough cringeworthy mayhem to be considered highly entertaining!
However I found it was the last 37 minutes of the film that proved to be the most disturbing! It is during this time it becomes a very personal and harrowing experience for…

Stranger Than Paradise 1984
America, land of... isolation, miscommunication, and stupid blind luck. Plus, it's very funny.

The Imposter 2012
A really well made documentary all around. I loved the song selections and the re-enactments. The last shot was awesome as well.

In Bruges 2008
Hello The Letterboxd Cult of In Bruges. I kind of agree with you. This is pretty good.
I'm glad this was recorded as even before the end of the titles I was laughing so much I'd have missed half the intro.
I've never had much time for Colin Farrell, but last year wondered whether he might not be as meh as he seems if someone as bright as Emma Forrest thought he was worth going to pieces over and taking…

Gone with the Wind 1939
Now that I've rewatched it, I can see what makes this movie special. The sets and the acting, the direction and the music. Each and every aspect of the movie is great. The only thing that brings it down for me is my dislike of Civil War stories and my hatred for Scarlett O'Hara.

The Seventh Seal 1957
I really wanted to hate this. I can't stand period dramas, let alone old period dramas, and in generally I find morality plays fairly lifeless. There was a bit of that here, especially during the first half, but the film more than made up for it with haunting cinematography and the heaviest of heavy characters. The condemned girl will stick with me for a long time, as will the image of Antonius and Death playing chess against the ocean. Von…
