I bet this was hilarious in 2012. It's pretty funny in 2023.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery 2022
I liked everything about this movie until the end. It felt too much like an action movie ending. To me the best ending to mystery movies is when the good guys outsmart the bad guy. And that almost happened when they found the napkin, but then the bad guy burned the napkin and ruined it. Apparently, they didn't expect that, so they went with an action movie solution. They won by brute force and blowing the place up. It's fun, but not as cathartic as outsmarting the bad guy even after the twist.

The Banshees of Inisherin 2022
Never in a million years would I have guessed the plot to this movie.

Collateral 2004
This was so dumb. Maybe it wasn't in 2004, but it is in 2022. Maybe this type of movie has been done so many times that it's no longer interesting.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story 2022
This was so funny. Extremely loud commercial break. I laughed throughout. Extremely loud commercial break. My bologna, my bologna, my bologna.

Prisoners 2013
Watched it again and it's still one of the best movies I've ever seen. I was riveted the entire time, even though I'd seen it before. Everyone is at their best in this. This is acting, this is directing, this is cinematography. I dream of a future where we talk about this like we talk about The Godfather.

Molly's Game 2017
This feels like a book more than a movie. The narration tells you how to feel and what to care about and why. But I didn't actually feel anything or care about any of it. Sorkin is such a good writer and the acting is so great that it's a good movie anyway. Still, we already know the perfect director for a Sorkin script. Next time give it to Fincher.
