🧡 SPOOKTOBER DAY 24 🧡
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors is a COOL sequel. With kills that arguably beat the original in creativity, Freddy Krueger is more charismatic, and throws out the zinger one-liners that everyone knows him for.
Performances are fantastic, and I thought the plot was strong from start to finish. The run time is perfect, it never overstays its welcome. The visual effects are impressive - especially the ‘tongue-tied’ scene - and Dream Warriors creates a convincingly terrifying dream world. The feeling of losing control over reality, and being pulled into an arena fully manipulated by Krueger is now counterbalanced by the warriors’ special superpowers. If anyone didn’t like that touch, show yourself out. I wish we saw more of it.
Dream Warriors dares to expand ideas seen in the first movie, without crushing or disregarding Freddy’s Revenge. I have a soft spot for the second sequel, and Dream Warriors doesn’t step on anyone’s toes: it’s just good in its own right.
