nomadland is a fascinating, deeply moving exploration of a nomadic, van-living community in the american midwest. it's about the reasons we choose to migrate, the reasons we're forced to migrate, how we process grief and loss, finding community, and seeking freedom. I don't share fern's emotional or financial struggles but I still felt so seen by this film as someone whose desire to travel stems from the need to distance myself from pain and trauma.
thank you to my mother frances and my sister chloe!!!!
