It’s brutal, but also a film that covers this subject matter should be. I think it’s interesting to see the different povs regarding morality, and that by the end I’m not happy to see him die because of my beliefs and that’s what separates me from him… that I’m not relieved he is cleansed from society, even if I don’t agree condone or tolerate his actions. Very interesting- find it ironic that the Iranian gov threatened punishment to people involved with the film…

A journey, but not of a hero. I felt some things come together when the mom calls out beau for being innocent as a tactic to avoid making choices and putting it on others. But I also felt the rabbit hole farce sometimes was the driver of the story that  felt like one nightmare of some repressed memory. I want to see a 6 hour version of it to see what’s happening here

The fact that some people gave Amsterdam a higher view than this makes my stomach hurt.

Everything a blockbuster should have - epic songs that give insight to characters motivations, dancing , battle scenes, a good plot twist, two soulful and strong leads. The first 20 min were gruesome but evens out into such a strong story of friendship and morality. The singing felt so right and the most heightened drama brought out song. Though part of me is like fuck it let them sing and dance the whole time I appreciated the specific conservative use. I want to watch it again with popcorn.
