It's been a while since I had such an emotionless reaction to a movie I was so excited for. This made my top 10 most anticipated for 2022 and yet here I am feeling nothing. I didn't hate it but I didnt really like it either. It just kinda happened. Florence Pugh was amazing as always. Someone should check on her, she's single handedly carried multiple films over the last few years.

Viola Davis is always above every movie she is in. She takes this badass action flick and turns it into an emotionally charged film. It's also nice to see her soar as an action star, something I didn't know she would ever do. All the young, lesser known actresses were wonderful as well. I hope we see more of them down the line. I do feel as though John Boyaga was miscast. Maybe its because I'm not his biggest but he didn't fit the film or the role.

3 years ago, Taron Egerton gave one of my all time favorite performances. Since then, he hasn't made a single show or movie and was waiting for the right project. Black Bird was definitely the right one. He deserves so much more credit as an actor than he gets. Along with Paul Walter Hauser, he shows some of the best acting I've seen all year. The range of emotion between the two of them is really incredible. Not always an easy watch but it is one I can't reccomend enough.

I went in as open minded as possible. I don't like Tim Burton, and I really don't like Johnny Depp. I feel as though I has the worst possible reaction to the film. I didn't hate it or love it. I kinda felt nothing. I found it to be off tonally. It would swap between self serious and over the top cheesy fun. Had we committed to one it would have worked better. I also took issue with some of…

I unapologetically love Tom Cruise. He's a true filmmaker who does everything in his power to entertain his audience in the most satisfying way. He continously teams up with directors that utilize his skills to the maximum. Top Gun Maverick tops the original in every way. It's got heart, amazing visuals, great performances, and just enough 80s cheese to remind us of the original. Finally, by the end, we get one of the most thrilling third acts since, well Mission: Impossible Fallout. Probably my most anticipated of the year, and it delivered

My favorite part of film is when they evoke emotions. This did more than that. It had moments that made me feel sadness. It had moments that made me feel joy. However, from start to finish, I felt love. For a film to do that, it's something really special to me. The direction, writing and performances bring it to life. These weren't characters, they were people. Real people in a real family. And I loved each and every one of them as if they were my own family.
