Aaron T Martin’s review published on Letterboxd:
This one worked for me in many ways the first installment did not. I enjoyed the exploration of all the relationships here. I quite liked having a couple minor characters from Vol 1 becoming more fleshed out, and in one case I think being the real heart of the movie.
While the 80s fish-out-of-water comedy is just as tiresome here as it was round 1(I mean, honestly, can this be scrapped in any future Peter Quill appearance?), the rest of the comedic elements worked very well. From the Sovereign and their arcade style war ships, to Drax and Rocket, there was a lot of good comedy to mine through.
I also appreciated the little asides during giant CGI fueled action scenes. I'd rather watch Baby Groot dance and the rest of the team's exhausted parenting skills as they battle than a full scale amalgam of CGI and goop.
