The Shining is hailed as perhaps the greatest film adaptation amongst Stephen King's work, which, quite frankly, one cannot really complain about. However, I personally think that The Shawshank Redemption is not only the best adaptation amongst King's work, but simultaneously one of the best films ever made, period. This is a masterpiece through and through, and for a number of reasons.
