No Hard Feelings 2023
really funny when it’s funny, kind of annoying when it’s trying to have “heart” or whatever. but glad to see jennifer lawrence in a comedic role, wish she was doing these all along.

Jennifer Lawrence deserves to be confident.
The moments in this that hit, hit really hard. It's two good actors selling you on a ridiculous idea, and it mostly works. Itis pretty good for the duration and during certain parts it's exceptional. I'd rate it higher but tonally it's kind of a mess. I wanted a more consistently rated R film or a deeper film, and I think the main problem with this movie is that it tries to accomplish both, which limits its success with both.
Good shit.

Theater Camp 2023
***This was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of writers and actors like those currently on strike, the movie being covered here wouldn't exist.***

I don't know many theater kids, but this was a very humanizing look at theater kids. I love what this film does for theater people, and I hope that they can eventually earn the tolerance they deserve.
Also, shout out to the heterosexuals!!!

Princess Mononoke 1997
These days, there are angry ghosts all around us - dead from wars, sickness, starvation - and nobody cares. So you say you're under a curse? So what? So's the whole damn world.
Damn….this was so good. I’ll be thinking about this film for a while.

Bottoms 2023
A female-centric movie, where the only redeemable male character is a teacher played by Marshawn Lynch, who sits in class reading Divorced and Happy magazines and ignoring for the most part his classes.
And it's just fine. This movie is about girls and it's told by girls, and in this world, all the boys portrayed are jocks that are even more obnoxious than in most teen comedies and a principal who is more of a jerk than Richard Vernon from…

The Avengers 2012
The first time I saw The Avengers was in a furniture store. I was about 11, waiting around in the entertainment display setup area while my mom bought her items. They were playing The Avenger on the display tv, and I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. I couldn’t even really hear what they were saying, but I was so taken in by the superheroes and their cool costumes. I immediately asked my dad if he would take me to…

Equilibrium 2002
kind of an absurd experience; the giver-cum-matrix premise made me think it would be directed toward a younger audience but the R-rating says otherwise. still, it plays like a live-action battle shonen with all those cartoonish action sequences and the clunky dialogue. and from that angle i really enjoyed it! might have to revisit while sober to see if it still has the same impact though!

Here are brief answers to 7 important questions:
(1) Ew why did you see this?I understand why you ask but for a couple of different reasons. I didn't feel comfortable being critical of this film without seeing it. My dad, who I am constantly trying to save from fascism, saw it and said it was great…
