I’m guessing audiences and critics in 1989 probably didn’t think Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure would hold up or be as oft quoted today as it has been over the years, but here were are. It’s hard not for me to think of Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves when I think of stereotypical 80s metalheads. They’re so lovable, and I don’t think they get enough credit for the physicality they bring to these roles, which add so much to their comic timing. They embody these types perfectly. The first time I watched this film , I was in a depressive funk, not uncommon during my teen years, and it was on tv (I’d heard of the film and always wanted to see it). Well, it did its trick, and it has never failed, whether rewatching it or simply quoting it, to put a smile on my face. Watched the wonderful new Studio Canal 4k disc.
