David Lawrence’s review published on Letterboxd:
Despite Letterboxd's attempt to make us hate this film, this is in every way a classic that is aging like fine wine. One of my formative experiences with horror (the other that comes instantly to mind is TV's "V"), I perhaps now appreciate this more for its dark humour, but there's still no doubting the horrific elements. Galligan is the perfect all-American young male, and Cates has perhaps never had a more adorable and sympathetic role. But the real star of this show, more than Columbus' script and even Dante, is the effects team that made the gremlins feel so real (to me, anyway!), and Gizmo into one of the 80s' greatest heroes. Watch this with the lights out.
